Fire Incidents

Current and historical incidents, grouped under stable Fire IDs with their source reports and links.

The deepfire:fires collection returns one feature per canonical incident. Multiple reports describing the same incident are attached to that Fire. Agency-backed and manually confirmed incidents are included; satellite detections awaiting confirmation and prescribed burns are separate datasets. You do not need to supply an incident-type filter.

Both active and closed fires are returned by default. Historical coverage is limited to eligible reports retained and linked by Deepfire; uncertain historical matches may remain separate incidents.

Active fires in Catalonia

This bounding box covers roughly Catalonia, including some neighboring areas. It is not the exact administrative boundary.

Fires active during a historical window

For July 2025, select incidents whose lifetimes overlap [2025-07-01, 2025-08-01). This includes fires that started in June and continued into July. datetime is not a substitute for this incident-span predicate.

Properties

Geometry is a point in EPSG (longitude, latitude). It is the latest canonical location, not a historical perimeter.

Property Meaning
id Canonical Fire UUID
name Primary report name, falling back to the cached place name
location_source manual, cluster, or report
start_time, ended_at Canonical activity span; ended_at is null for active fires
active Canonical incident status, including consensus closure
area_m2, area_source Best available area: official perimeter, primary report, then derived satellite estimate; estimates are not summed across reports
containment, source Primary report’s containment percentage and provider
aliases Searchable names from all attached public reports
deepfire_url Link to the incident in Deepfire
reports_json String containing a JSON array of source evidence

Parse reports_json once after parsing GeoJSON. Each array entry contains id, source, externalId, name, primary, active, startTime, endedAt, updatedAt, lastSeenAt, and url. Null values mean that a source did not supply the fact. A source’s active state can differ from the canonical incident status.

Tenant names, comments, assignments, and private reports are excluded. Facts are the latest retained values; historical queries do not reconstruct past field values or inactive gaps in a reopened incident.
