Values at risk
The structures, critical infrastructure, and people in a fire's path, assessed against a fire spread simulation.
/v1/fire-spread/simulations/{id}/values-at-risk - what a simulated fire reaches, and when.
A values-at-risk report overlays a fire spread simulation on Deepfire’s infrastructure layers. Every asset inside the simulated burn area, or within a small buffer of it, is reported with the hour the fire first reaches it.
Assets come in two forms:
- Assets — individually named facilities such as hospitals, schools, fire stations, transmission lines and cell towers. Each one is listed with its distance from the ignition, first impact hour, and source attributes.
- Aggregates — high-count layers such as building footprints, reported as counts and total footprint area per hour rather than one row per building.
Asset types
| Category | assetType |
|---|---|
| Structures | BUILDING, BUILDING_FEMA (aggregates) |
| Healthcare | HOSPITAL, NURSING_HOME, DIALYSIS_CENTER, VHA_MEDICAL_FACILITY |
| Emergency Services | FIRE_EMS_STATION, NATIONAL_SHELTER, LAW_ENFORCEMENT, LOCAL_EOC, STATE_EOC, PRISON |
| Education | PUBLIC_SCHOOL, PRIVATE_SCHOOL, COLLEGE_UNIVERSITY, CHILD_CARE_CENTER |
| Energy | TRANSMISSION_LINE, NATURAL_GAS_PIPELINE, HGL_PIPELINE, PETROLEUM_REFINERY, PETROLEUM_PRODUCT_TERMINAL, LNG_TERMINAL, LNG_STORAGE_FACILITY |
| Communications | CELLULAR_TOWER, ANTENNA_STRUCTURE, LAND_MOBILE_BROADCAST_TOWER, MICROWAVE_SERVICE_TOWER |
| Transport | AVIATION_FACILITY |
| Water | WASTEWATER_TREATMENT_PLANT |
| Custom | Layers your organization has uploaded as custom data |
Infrastructure coverage is currently the United States; structures are global where building footprints are available.
